Under Queensland law, a resident letting agent is defined as a person or company managing property 'on-site' on behalf of clients (usually unit owners) in a Community Titles Scheme and marketing the complex as a whole. Through owning or operating the management rights to a particular complex, resident letting agents act on behalf of the owners of the units in their letting pool and for the bodies corporate.

As such, to comply with the Property Agents & Motor Dealers Act, it is necessary for the person operating the management rights in Queensland to have a Resident Letting Agents License that attaches to the particular building under their management.

Resident Letting Agents training courses are available from a number of registered training organizations who conduct regular classes, as well as on-line and correspondence courses, covering the responsibilities and obligations of operating a Management Rights business with particular attention to the operation of a Trust Account.

Courses take about 5 days on a full time basis to complete the 7 modules that make up the course at a cost of approximately $700,-  The Real Estate Institute Of Queensland (REIQ) have a Management Right Training Brochure available.
